I feel this short audio adds to the mood of the poem. Better to open the link in a separate window/tab.
For those unfamiliar, Laila and Majnoon is a classic, well known tragic love story, the ‘Romeo and Juliet’ of the East. Although it predates the Shakespeare story, said to be based on a real life story from the 7th Century C.E
Qays who falls madly in love with Layla, prevented from marrying her eventually goes insane or Majnun (Crazy) – which he becomes known as.
